Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa)

Punarnava enhances the quality of 6 of the 7 categories of bodily tissues, including nutrient plasma (Rasa Dhatu), blood (Rakta Dhatu), muscle (Mamsa Dhatu), fat (Meda Dhatu), bone marrow and nerves (Majja Dhatu), and reproductive fluids (Shukra Dhatu).

It acts as a Diuretic & also laxative which is indicated in Medoroga (excessive fat )in ayurved.


Guggulu (Commiphora mukul; Burseaceae) :

Widely used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Anti-inflammatory, anti-toxic. lowers blood cholesterol, supports the immune system. Combines with Turmeric and Barberry to reduces fat, toxins, tumors, and necrotic (dead) tissue. Guggulu works to disinfect secretions, including mucus, sweat and urination, and helps heal the skin and mucous membranes.

Research with laboratory animals suggests guggulu may help enhance thyroid function. Since the thyroid gland produces hormones that are needed to regulate metabolism, it can help in weight loss. Studies show guggulu may change thyroid hormone metabolism, increase levels of circulating T3, or triiodothyroxine, a thyroxine metabolite known to raise overall metabolism, which in turn increases fat burning.

Kalimarich (Piper nigrum)
